Yes No Thanks for your feedback! Report as inappropriate. I could not put this book down and finished it in a few days.
I could not stop wondering what really happened. As in all her books that I have read so far, the character development was amazing. A very gripping and emotional book. Very impressed with his book. It's the second book I've read by Jodi, I can't wait to read more!!! Totally not what I expected but such an intense book - I couldn't put it down!!!
Loved the romantic story, the sadness and the happy times as well..

Katie lies immediately when asked about her pregnancy. Is this surprising? Would you expect automatic honesty from someone raised in a similarly conservative religious environment?
Consider the play on words in the title. Do you understand? Do you agree with her logic? Jacob tells Ellie that the Amish faith is on trial.
Is this true? Ellie sees the value of this as a defense theory p. Do you think this is true?

Did you believe that Aaron killed the infant? Would it be easier to accuse or find guilty a man in infanticide than a woman? Polacci describes the characteristics of women most likely to commit neonaticide. How does Katie fit within this pattern? How is she different? Polacci mentions Far East cultures to compare them with what is familiar to Ellie.
Is Amish culture also so different from mainstream American culture? Think of what an insanity defense means: the suspect did not know right from wrong at the time of the crime. Do you think she cares for Samuel only out of an obligation?Chris must change in order to survive in prison and to live with his decision to help with the suicide.
Some examples: She pretty much ruined his life, and was very selfish for wanting him to help her commit suicide, and not telling him she was pregnant.!!!???? That suicide leaves families devastated and tears people apart, but is sometimes inevitable and is the answer to our woes?
It was amazing how you could actually feel how the characters felt and understand their pain just through words.
